* N.B. the initium of the Book of Proverbs assigned to this Sunday is delayed until Wednesday of this week due to the occurring double feasts.

The lessons and responds for the first nocturne today were taken from the occurring Scripture for the First Sunday of August. We at the CTO adopt the later practice of employing this rubric on feasts of Double (Minor) rank which lack proper lessons in the first nocturne. The lessons and responds given in the respective Common festal offices are to be limited to feasts of Double Major rank and higher (and also for Double Minors if proper responds are given for the first nocturne). On Wednesday this week, the occurring Scripture will be that of the Wednesday in the first week of August.
