Vigil of St. Bartholomew; Simple, VioletOffice: Ferial Office per Annum; Ferial melody and normal doxology for all hymns at the Hours until None inclusive. The Preces and Collects are sung kneeling through None inclusive, likewise for the Collects and Postcommunion prayers at Mass.
At Mattins, 1 nocturn: Pss. 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 93, 95, & 96; 3 lessons from the Common of Vigils of Apostles w/ 3 responds from the occurring Scripture (Friday, Week III August), No Te Deum.
At Lauds, Pss. 50, 142, 62 & 66, Canticle of Habacuc, 148-150, Chapter, Hymn, Versicle, and Benedictus Antiphon from the Psalter, Ferial Preces sung kneeling, Collect of the Vigil proper; Suffrages of the Cross, Our Lady, St. Joseph, Ss. Peter & Paul, (Patron), and for Peace.
At Prime, Pss. 53, 21, 118.1 & 118.2, Ferial Preces sung kneeling, Short Lesson Dominus autem dirigat.
At the Hours, all as in the Psalter, Ferial Preces sung kneeling, Collect proper.
At Mass (after None), No Gloria, 2nd. orations of Our Lady/Saints, 3rd. orations at the choice of the Celebrant, No Credo, Common Preface (Ferial Tone), Benedicamus Domino. At Solemn Mass, the Deacon and Subdeacon wear folded chasubles in place of dalmatic and tunicle, respectively.
After None, the liturgical color changes to red for the following feast of St. Bartholomew, Apostle & Martyr; Double II class.
At Vespers, Antiphons Hoc est praeceptum meum, etc (doubled) from the Common of Apostles (I Vespers) w/ Pss. 109, 110, 111, 112, & 116; Chapter, Hymn Exsultet, & Versicle from the Common, Magnificat Antiphon Tradent enim vos from the Common; Collect from the Proper for the feast; No Commemorations nor Suffrages.
At Compline, Solemn melody w/ regular doxology for the Te lucis, No Preces, Salve Regina sung kneeling and in the Solemn Tone.
