Office: Festal Office as on the feast. Our Lady's melody with the proper doxology of the Incarnation for all hymns at the Hours.

At Mattins, Invitatory Nativitatem from the Proper & Hymn Quem terra from the Common, 3 nocturnes: antiphons (not doubled) from the Common w/ Pss. 8, 18, 23, 44, 45, 86, 95, 96, & 97; 1st. nocturne - lessons and responds from the occurring Scripture (Monday, Week II September**), 2nd. & 3rd. nocturnes - lessons from the Proper for the day w/ responds as on the feast, 9th. lesson of St. Gorgonius, Te Deum.

At Lauds, Antiphons Nativitas gloriosae, etc. (not doubled) from the Proper w/ Pss. 92, 99, 62 & 66, Benedicite, and 148-150, Chapter and Hymn O gloriosa Domina from the Common, Versicle from the Proper, Benedictus Antiphon Nativitatem hodiernam and Collect as on the feast, Commemoration of St. Gorgonius, Martyr (Antiphon Qui odit, Versicle Justus ut palma, Collect from the Proper), No Suffrages.

At Prime, first antiphon from Lauds w/ Pss. 53, 118.1 & 118.2, Qui natus in the short respond, No Preces, Short Lesson In plateis from the Common.

At Mass, after Terce, Gloria, Commemoration of St. Gorgonius, Credo, Preface of the B.V.M. (Et te in Nativitate, Solemn Tone), Ite Missa est.

At Vespers, Antiphons Nativitas gloriosae, etc. (not doubled) from the Proper w/ Pss. 109, 112, 121, 126, & 147; Chapter & Hymn Ave maris stella from the Common, Versicle, Magnificat Antiphon Nativitas tua and Collect from the feast, No Commemorations or Suffrages.

At Compline, No Preces, Salve Regina sung kneeling and in the Simple Tone.

After Compline, the liturgical color remains white for the third day within the Octave the following day.

* In dioceses of the USA, St. Peter Claver, Priest & Confessor; Semidouble, White w/ Commemorations of the Octave and St. Gorgonius. At Mass, Credo and Preface of the B.V.M. by reason of the Octave. At Vespers, antiphons and psalms for the feast, but from the Chapter onwards of the Octave = all as at First Vespers of the Nativity of the B.V.M.  w/ Commemoration of St. Peter Claver.

** Because the second Sunday of September's lessons at Mattins continue from the Book of Job begun last week, there is no "Incipit" and hence no transfer of the Sunday's lessons and responds impeded by the Nativity of the B.V.M. yesterday.
