Commemoration of the 23rd. Sunday after Pentecost (V October)

Office: Proper Festal Office. Proper doxology of Christ the King with the melody from Pentecost at the Hours. Note that this proper doxology, though composed in 1925, is rendered under the Pre-Urban VIII verbage in the CTO - i.e. Gloria tibi, Domine instead of Jesu, tibi sit gloria - and this follows likewise for the hymns at Vespers, Mattins, and Lauds.

At Mattins, Invitatory Jesum Christum & Hymn Aeterna imago from the Proper; 3 nocturnes - Antiphons Ego autem, etc. (doubled) w/ Pss. 2, 8, 23, 28, 44, 46, 71, 88.1 & 88.2 from the Proper; lessons and responds from the Proper*, 9th. lesson = lessons 7, 8, and 9 of the Sunday combined, Te Deum.

At Lauds, Antiphons Suscitabit, etc. (doubled) w/ Pss. 92, 99, 62 & 66, Benedicite, and 148-150, Chapter, Hymn Vexilla Christus, Versicle, and Benedictus Antiphon Fecit nos Deo from the Proper, Collect proper; Commemoration of the Sunday (Antiphon Dicebat enim, Versicle Dominus regnavit, and Collect of the Sunday), No Suffrages.

At Prime, first antiphon (not doubled) from Lauds w/ Pss. 53, 118.1 & 118.2, No Quicumque nor Preces, Verse in short respond = Qui primatum in omnibus tenes, Short Lesson In ipso from the Proper.

At the Hours, antiphons 2, 3,& 5 from Lauds w/ the respective divisiones of Ps. 118, rest as in the Proper.

At Mass (after Terce), Gloria, Commemoration. of the Sunday, Credo, Preface of Christ the King (Solemn Tone), Ite missa est, Proper Last Gospel from the Sunday.

At 2nd. Vespers, Antiphons Pacificus, etc. (doubled) w/  Pss. 109, 110, 111, 112, & 116 from the Proper; Chapter, Hymn Te saeculorum, & Versicle from the Proper, Magnificat Antiphon proper Habet in vestimento; Collect from the Proper, Commemorations of the following Ss. Simon & Jude, Apostles (Antiphon Tradent enim vos, Versicle In omnem, Collect from the Proper) and of the occurring Sunday (Antiphon At Jesus conversus, Versicle Dirigatur, Collect of the Sunday), No Suffrages.

At Compline, Te lucis sung in the proper melody and doxology of Christ the King, No Preces, Salve Regina sung standing and in the Solemn Tone.

After Compline, the liturgical color changes to red for the following feast of Ss. Simon & Jude; Double II Class.

* If using a 1961 B.R., lessons 8 and 9 given for Christ the King are to be combined into one lesson functioning as the eighth lesson while moving the intervening respond to be after the combined lesson.

  2. This is my first opportunity to get online since Sunday.
    I concede defeat. The feast went beautifully here in England.

    Missa de Angelis, of course, since it is such a recent feast.

    We even had a midwestern contingent who had travelled some distance to attend.

    PS. Would it ne more proper to commemorate the Sunday or to move it to the first free day? Thanks.
