  1. Re: Lady of Mt Carmel. I would not be opposed to an option, a la St Pius X, for the celebration of the devotional Mass (and only the Mass) on the former day of the complete feast. The 1911 allowed this for Precious Blood, St Joachim, St John the Baptist and some others. He of course moved the entire feasts. If the objective is to remove excessive devotionalism from the liturgy as a whole, I think removing these feasts is a good thing. Yet retaining an option for a votive Mass in place of the ferial Mass on the former feast's day might be a nice compromise, allowing a free Office and helping the laity, in some places, keep their private devotions. Of course I would not hear of having these Masses on Sundays, but the rest of week, sure!

    1. Being that tomorrow is a Feria on the general CTO kalendar, any Votive Mass is fair game. If there were ever a CTO Missale, OL of MC would have a Mass in the Pro Aliquibus Locis appendix on 16 July. I would go further and concede "Votive" Offices but only on particular individual days (but never on Sundays) and not as a matter of course for all but two weeks of the year a la Leo XIII.

    2. I think I could be agreeable to a limited number of votive offices for use on specific days of the year. Does the CTO use the Tridentine rules for votive Mass?—non-solemn votive Masses must be on Simplex or Ferial days and only after the Sunday Mass has been repeated on one day?

    3. Yes, we would default to any of the rules in place as of 1570 and see no reason to change the Votive Mass rules. In my opinion, they should be safe, legal, but rare, especially on Sundays.
