Sunday, 10 August - S. Lawrence, DM, Duplex II Classis, Red w/ Octave. Comm. IX Sunday after Pentecost. Office from the Common of One Martyr and the Proper. Solemn melody at the hymns of the Hours. At Mattins, lesson IX of the Sunday, Te Deum. At Lauds, Comm. of  the Sunday. At Prime, Pss. 53, 118.1 and 118.2, no Quicumque. At Mass, Gloria, Comm. the Sunday, Credo, Preface of the Trinity (ratione Dominicae), Proper Last Gospel of the Sunday. II Vespers of the feast, Comm. of the Sunday.

Unless otherwise stated, the Ordinary melody is sung for the hymns at the Hours on days within the Octave of S. Lawrence. Likewise, the Common Preface is sung on weekdays before the Assumption.

Monday, 13 August - Within the Octave, Semiduplex, Red. Comm. Ss. Hippolytus & Cassian, MM. Office and Mass as on the feast except for the proper lessons at Mattins with lesson IX of Ss. Hippolytus & Cassian. At Mass, Comm. Ss. Hippolytus & Cassian, third orations of Our Lady/All Saints. At Vespers, Comm. of the following S. Eusebius.

Thursday, 14 August - Within the Octave, Semiduplex, Red. Comms. Vigil of the Assumption and S. Eusebius, C. Office and Mass as on the feast except for the proper lessons at Mattins with lesson IX of the Vigil. At Mass (after Terce), Comms. of the Vigil and S. Eusebius, Proper Last Gospel of the Vigil. Where conceded, Mass of the Vigil after None w/ Comm. S. Eusebius only. Vespers of the following day, no Comms. From now until Compline of 22 August inclusive, proper doxology of the Incarnation sung in Our Lady's melody for all hymns at the Hours.

Friday, 15 August - Assumption of the B.V.M., Duplex I Classis, White w/ Octave. The Octave of S. Lawrence is not commemorated this day. Office from the Common of the B.V.M. and the Proper. For both the Mass and Office, ALL as in editions of the Breviarium Romanum of 1939*.  At Prime, V. Qui natus es. At Mass (Gaudeamus), Gloria, no Comms., Credo, Preface of the B.V.M. (Et te in Assumptione). II Vespers of the feast, Comm. of the following day only.

Saturday, 16 August -  S. Joachim, Father of the B.V.M., Semiduplex, White. Comms. Octaves of the Assumption & S. Lawrence. Office from the Common of Non-Bishop Confessor and the Proper. At Lauds, Comms. of Octaves. At Mass, Gloria, Comms. of Octaves, Credo ratione Octavarum, Preface of the B.V.M. ratione Octavae. Vespers of the following Octave Day of S. Lawrence, Comms. of the preceding, the following X Sunday after Pentecost, and the Octave of the Assumption.

* The CTO revises its proposals from last year and adopts entirely the Office and Mass of the Assumption as given before the declaration of the Dogma in 1950. This is no way should be interpreted as an implicit or explicit denial of said dogma, but a choosing of  perfectly sound, traditional, and beautiful liturgical texts for this great feast.. The CTO does, however, concede ad libitum the addition of the three new lessons at the second nocturne of Mattins stating Pius XII's definition to be appended  to (i.e. not as a substitution) to the existing sixth lesson on the feast day itself.

  1. If anything the old liturgy was evidence that the Church had always believed in the Assumption. Its replacement was a travesty! Congrats to the CTO for putting things right!
