Ordo - Heb. I Adventus, MMXIV

Hebdomada: Week I of Advent

Notes for Advent:
1. Unless otherwise stated, all hymns retain the Per Annum doxologies but are sung in the Advent melodies.
2. The Suffrages at Vespers and Lauds are omitted during the entirety of Advent and from Christmas through the Octave of the Epiphany inclusive.
3. The Feriae of Advent are major, not privileged. Hence, they supersede all Simplex feasts and are commemorated at Vespers, Lauds, and Mass on all festal days of nine lessons without exception during the season. The ferial office and Mass are penitential; hence penitential kneeling rules apply.
4. Vespers are still sung daily at their normal hour; this is not Lent.
