* We downgraded S. Pius X from a Duplex to a Semiduplex; it had the former classification on our original Sanctorale. Aside from due, higher honour  given in the venerable (but liturgically misguided) organization whose patron he is, we do not think that SPX is so great a saint that his feast should ever be able to supersede a Sunday. Finally it does not escape our effort here that we accord universal dulia to a wreckovator of the Divine Office; rather, we observe his feast, replete with the Laudate Psalms, for his staunch condemnation of Modernism.

  1. Indeed, it was unfortunate that Archbishop Lefebvre unilaterally imposed the '62 books on the SSPX, causing the rift between the Nine and also a confrontation with Fr. Black in the UK concerning the use of the earlier books!

  2. BTW, what readings for Matins should those praying with the older books not containing St. Pius X's feast use?

    1. Presumably those for the third day in the first week of September.

Oh the irony of singing the Laudate psalms for Papa Sarto!
